The performance of Handel’s Messiah at the Concordia University Center last Christmas season left “once-in-a-life-time” experiences for members of Irvine Master Chorale. Under the baton of Ms. Shang Li-Ying, the choir and the orchestra gave a superb performance to an audience over 700 in a cold, raining night. Many in the audience sent warm compliments and praises afterwards.
We are excited and inspired by this performance and planned to expand the Chorale to cover the Metropolitan Los Angeles area. Lucy and Amy worked very hard to persuade Ms. Shang to conduct this new Chorale. After a few weeks of networking, the nine member team formed the “planning committee” in order to organize the Los Angeles Formosan Master Chorale.
On March 10, 2011 the team met in a restaurant at Monterey Park to discuss the detail planning and to distribute the responsibilities. In the next few weeks we will send out invitations to recruit Chorale members. With the blessings of our mighty God, we believe that we will reach a new level of music performance and spiritual growth under the guidance of Ms. Shang in performing Haydn’s “The Creation” ( “Die Schöpfung” in German) next Spring.
